V. What can we do? Possibilities for action by Christians
In posing possibilities for actions by churches and Christians, Chapter V identifies
the distinctive contribution to be made at the level of faith and spirituality.
Although recognition is given to addressing issues internationally, the primary
importance of local and national actions is emphasized. Suggestions are given
in seven areas for actions by individuals or family groups, particularly those
with adequate income. Possibilities for Christian communities and congregations
in worship education, participation in "civic society", and influencing
international policy are presented. At the same time, churches are challenged
to examine their own institutional economic responsibilities. The role of churches
in building public awareness, affecting public policy through advocacy and undertaking
action with international organizations and networks is also presented.
